What I did was to copy my Bookmarks (including Subfolders) to the Bookmarks Bar, and when I now click on the Bookmarks tab on the Bar, all of my Bookmarks appear in a dropdown menu, just like in O12.
If someone can show me how to upload an image here, I can display it for y'all. Also included on my bookmarks bar are a few of the Subfolders I often use, so I don't have to navigate the normal Bookmark tab.
I'm 100% sure that up until a few versions ago Opera was telling me that there was an update available and ask me if I wanted to update, and I'm 101% sure that I never changed any setting to make Opera update automatically. I prefer to be free to decide myself what happens to my computer and when. Or at least let me know once an update was installed without my consent.
So I tried to find the setting to disable automatic update and go back to being told when a new version is available, but for the life of me I couldn't find any such setting. I hope someone can help me find that setting.

I just switched to the Opera browser from Chrome and love it.
I pick a theme and set it as default, close the browser and come back in, my chosen theme is gone replaced by the same old pink and orange triangle one every time.
Why is my theme of choice not sticking as a default theme, the one that is stuck is garish behind my speed dial tiles, if I can't get it fixed, it's a deal breaker for me.
Any help would be appreciated, I am running the latest version of Opera which is 31.0.1889.161, I have gone into the folder where the profile files reside and tried deleting and/or renaming the preferences file but the problem still exists.

it seem to be an enormous problem, the new interface of opera only allow to change the background image of the speed dial... it can be very cool if it can be like opera 12 and its fabulous skin selector because i love dark themes like Adobe UI .
How is it possible to change the skin of new Opera ( 33 or beta ) ???
In another browser it is -k switch but that one also hides the tabs and the entire upper bar. I want to defeat only that button that closes the browser.
When I design my own programs in general, I can do it there so I hope it can be done here.
There is a problem in 33.0.1990.58 - background color of select elements is always white and can't be changed.

Having just installed a fistful of updates from M/S I find I can not log onto my gmail account with Opera, a google pop up says they have detected a problem with cookies, I have tried to let www.google.com have access but it does not work, now when I use my old IE which I keep installed (for moments like this) there is no problem and I get to my email acc. I am running Vista home
I've been around for a long time with Opera and delayed the upgrade form v12, well, you know, a long time. But I did the big move today. I really wish I hadn't, except that v12 had become a serious cpu over-user.
But, I can't see where v30 has user enhancements compared to v12. Finding my bookmarks is terrible. I have to click thru various levels to get to my imported bookmarks. It just seems goofy to me. I want them on the side panel instantly available like before. And why did I lose the user data field in my bookmarks, where I could store extra data, like a password hint.
Why did it take me a long time just to find this forum? Not having a forum link in the help is not a feature.
I am wasting a lot of time today just trying to navigate around and I don't like it. Please bring back the tool bar and other enhancements from previous versions. The little 'tool' thingy on the far right only shows my open tabs, which i can see perfectly well just by looking at the tabs!!!.
As an old user, will never be thankful for this new and improved Opera. It really doesn't give me anything different than Chrome, So, why don't I just switch to Chrome. Hmmm...

only two point difficult ever(boring, but small)... why any keys of the keybord can't be used as shortcut... i explain... => to close a window/tab, i used to use [ctrl !] ([!] is just upper a [ctrl] key on my keyboard) then just uncool to see these keybord limitation ?? => impossibility to create new shortcut (which is(was) my second favorite pleasure on earth ever, then i'am not far to die again) ... well, the famous default-search engine of death, i've read many stuff about it... then...
=> i seen that Opera sell it's Browser version for cellulars, or smartphone... => my great question to the team: is that possible to buy the browser for PC(windows), in exchange of the sponsoring of those of be the default search engine... i'll be just happy of this solution... (and i'll will NOT force you to put my name everywhere, promissed)

Hi, Why cant I resize an image in a composted email message in Opera Mail? In outlook you can past a image as it is and resize the image by draging it smaller or bigger, creating the ability to compose a more colorfull mail, but I cant seem to find this option. Evenn Apple mail has it, only there you can choose for small, normal or bigger size, but still, it has the option to do so. Why is Opera Mail missing this important option? I now have to resize it externally before I past the picture in an composing Opera Email. Rea;;y annoying, which results me recommending Outlook to other people, because it has more playfull option in wich you can do almost anything with..
I'm not happy about it, but it came down to Opera just no longer seemed to be working. I don't know if there was a new update or something, but Opera became utterly unusable on my machine. I openly and freely admit my computer isn't any spring-chicken but the lags to the point of unusability pushed me over the edge; at it seemed to happen over night. Pages, Flash and otherwise, just took ages and ages to load and when loaded were virtually unnavigable.
I've used Opera for years, probably for close to 10 years, and it's always been a great browser but since going to a Chrome platform it seemed to become more and more problem-prone.
I hope the lags I've been experiencing are due to some other issue that'll be worked out in a future update or something but, as it is, I just cannot use Opera.
The browser I'm using now works fine with no lags or slowdowns.
The Opera Start Page opens with the default Google search engine, but when inputting something into the Google prompt, the return websites are under the Yahoo! search engine. This just started happening a day ago. What is causing this?

So a problem I've been having with Opera for ages today became unfixable. When you install Opera, you get a bunch of search engines built right in, such as Yahoo (using keyword y). I don't use Yahoo, and would like to use the keyword y for Yahoo, as I have for years. Alas, for some reason, it is impossible to delete the built-in search engines. I found a fix a while ago (on this link https://forums.opera.com/discussion/comment/15178242#Comment_15178242), and as ridiculous as it was that I had to redelete/rename this file every time Opera updated, it worked. Every time I tried a wikipedia search with w (pretty much the only reason why I use Opera) and got the Dutch wikipedia page instead (I'm currently living in the Netherlands), I knew it had been silently updated, went and deleted "default_partner_content.json" and carried on with my life. Except that with the most recent update (I'm guessing it was today, version number 31.0.1889.99), deleting or renaming said file will throw an error when you try to launch the program: "At least one file with resources (.pak) is corrupted. Please reinstall Opera." Bringing back the file will make Opera word again as usual (along with all the search engines I don't want).
Has anyone else stumbled upon this? Is there a fix in sight? Can Opera just cut this crap already, either by ceasing to force these search engines on us or letting us change them?

I have reason to use Opera, IE11, Firefox, Chrome and Safari on the same system. On a certain service website all browsers except opera permit access but Opera warns of an expired certificate and possible phishing. I've verified that the site is a legit business and its security has not been breached. Aside from just not using Opera to go to that website what can I do about this?
I can't understand why there is no way of exporting bookmarks in the newer versions of Opera. What's the point of bookmarking websites if you cannot backup your bookmarks in the event you have to reinstall or upgrade your operating system? I have over 200 bookmarks in Opera 12.15, which I can export and import.
Fresh install of Windows 10, the same of Opera 33.0.1990.58, and all links clicked (or automatically launched) in other applications now open in new Opera windows. In previous versions, they'd opened in tabs, which I prefer. I cannot seem to find a setting or tweak that controls this behavior, is there one?
